Remembering Michael Wynn Jones

Michael Wynn Jones, Honorary Life President of NCFC, passed away on September 28. Many of you will have met him at Capital Canaries functions over the years.

The Caps have sent messages of condolence to Delia Smith and her nephew Tom, as well as to NCFC, on behalf of our members.

Capital Canaries message to Delia and Tom:

Dear Delia and Tom,

On behalf of over 700 Capital Canaries, I send you our sincere personal condolences on the sad news of Michael's passing. Over many years, Michael was extremely generous in giving his time and attention to attend Capital Canaries functions — often in London, far from his home — and we have fond memories of the many occasions when he honoured us with his presence.

We will always remember his good humour, devotion to and hard work on behalf of Norwich City Football Club. We shall miss Michael and his outstanding contribution to the successes and achievements of our club.

With sympathy,

Michael Hilton, Chair of the Capital Canaries

Capital Canaries message to NCFC:

All of the Capital Canaries, the London-based supporters of NCFC, would like to express our sadness at the news of the passing of Michael Wynn Jones, Honorary Life President of our football club.

Michael's contribution to the success of Norwich City FC over the last 30 years has been immense. We are hugely grateful that, despite all his other obligations and responsibilities, he found time to give the Capital Canaries so much of his attention, and made such great efforts to attend our functions. His support was much appreciated by us.

As joint majority shareholder, he was the driving force behind many of the developments, and much of the progress at Carrow Road, both on the pitch and behind the scenes. His achievements and hard work will always be remembered and appreciated.

Thank you, Michael.
